UNDERWRITING ASSISTANT
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for assisting with the processing and servicing of applications and accounts.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clerical processing of accounts including applications, policy file maintenance and computer input of each account
Processes new business applications, renewals, cancellations, endorsements and other policy transactions
Prepare insurance forms/documents
Provide customer service and support efforts to acquire and retain profitable business
Process correspondence, forms, proposals, invoices, reports, etc.
Answer telephones and relay messages
Maintain files and records
Assist with the servicing of assigned accounts which includes new and renewal business and claims
Work with other departments to ensure timely collection of premiums
Responsible for developing complete familiarity with all forms and paperwork including their intent and purpose
Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with automated systems and Microsoft Office products
Excellent and effective organizational, interpersonal, communication skills
Ability to help resolve routine problems, answer general questions, and know when to escalate more complex issues
Dependability, attention to details, and ability to follow/interpret procedures
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
2-3 years of customer service and/or administrative experience
